New Delhi: The IndiaAI Mission, under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), has announced a global call for abstracts highlighting impactful and scalable applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in health systems. Shortlisted entries will be invited to contribute a chapter to the Casebook on AI Health Use Cases Across the Global South, which is set to be launched at the India-AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi in February, according to a release by the Ministry of Electronics & IT. Jointly developed by IndiaAI and WHO, this Casebook will serve as a comprehensive reference for policymakers, innovators, and researchers seeking to replicate and scale successfully implemented AI solutions across the Global South. Apple MacBook Pro M5 14-Inch: Apple has launched the all-new 14-inch MacBook Pro powered by its latest M5 chip, promising much faster performance, especially for artificial intelligence (AI) tasks. The overall design of the MacBook Pro remains the same, keeping the familiar black and silver colour options. But the big change lies inside, the M5 chip. It comes with a 10-core GPU and a Neural Accelerator in every core, which helps the machine handle AI-related tasks much faster.  Apple claims the M5 chip performs AI tasks up to 3.5 times quicker than the previous generation. For those upgrading from older machines, the speed difference is huge. New Delhi: The Central Government’s efforts to build national AI ecosystem will make AI resources accessible to smaller players in financial services beyond large incumbents, a report said on Wednesday. The report from business consultancy firm Grant Thornton Bharat said that the shift means firms must proactively align their systems with these platforms and contribute datasets as well as models to them. The IndiaAI Mission, AI Kosh, the DPDP Act, and CERT-In’s cybersecurity mandates are creating the infrastructure of compute, datasets, data protection, and digital rails that financial institutions can now ride on, the report said. Financial institutions face four structural challenges, such as data quality, infrastructure gaps, talent shortage, and regulatory ambiguity, it added. For banks and NBFCs, AI becomes a board-level governance issue, demanding model risk management and fairness programmes. The industry must respond by institutionalising model risk management — building comprehensive inventories of AI systems, developing fairness and explainability programs, and integrating incident reporting into existing supervisory channels, the report noted. Instagram Restriction Policy: Meta-owned platform Instagram is stepping up its efforts to safeguard younger users by introducing stringent new restrictions aimed at shielding teens from harmful content. In the recent blog post, the social media platform announced that accounts belonging to users under 18 years of age will now default to seeing content that adheres to PG-13 movie ratings. What Is PG-13 Rating It is part of the Motion Picture Association (MPA) film classification system, stands for “Parents Strongly Cautioned,” indicating some material may be inappropriate for children under 13. Introduced on July 1, 1984, in response to concerns over violent PG-rated films like Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, it serves as an intermediate warning between PG (Parental Guidance Suggested) and R (Restricted), urging parents to evaluate content before allowing preteens to view. The company is now adding filters to block words such as “alcohol” and “gore,” while ensuring teens cannot bypass these filters by using misspellings.
