New Delhi: Work pressure is a common issue for humans but in a surprising turn of events it’s now affecting robots too. Yes, you read that right. The incident which occurred last Thursday around 4 pm has left the community both bewildered and grieving. A robot civil servant employed by the Gumi City Council in South Korea has sparked a national debate following what many are referring to as the country’s first “robot suicide”. The robot, known as the ‘Robot Supervisor,’ was found lying at the bottom of a stairwell between the first and second floors of the council building. As observed by the witnesses, robot was exhibiting odd behaviour, “circling in one spot as if something was there,” before its unfortunate fall. Developed by Bear Robotics, a California-based startup known for robot-waiter technology. This robot operated from 9 am to 6 pm and even had its own civil service officer card. Unlike typical models confined to one floor, the Gumi City Council’s robot could independently call elevators and move between different floors. For now, the Gumi City Council has chosen not to replace their fallen robotic colleague. This tragic event has prompted them to temporarily halt their plans for further robot adoption. The reported suicide of the robot has ignited conversations in local media and online communities. Many people are questioning the workload and the factors leading up to the incident.

New delhi: Online food delivery platform Zomato has relaunched its ‘Intercity Legends’ service with a minimum order value of Rs 5,000. The service, which allowed users to order food from popular restaurants in other cities, was paused in April and has been relaunched with a fresh look within the app. It is now called “Legends” and allows users to customise their orders with dishes from various restaurants across cities in the same transaction. All orders placed before 7 p.m. will be delivered the next day. At a current market price of roughly Rs 208 apiece, the 18.26 crore shares are worth around Rs 3,800 crore.

New Delhi: NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL) has partnered with Network International to bring a significant advancement in digital payments to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This collaboration aims to enable QR code-based Unified Payments Interface (UPI) payment. This will allow Indian tourists and NRIs with Indian bank accounts to conveniently use UPI for transactions throughout the UAE. This move will guarantee secure and easy transactions for Indian tourists and Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) across Network International’s extensive merchant network in the UAE, as per statement from NPCI International. New Delhi: Meta platforms on Tuesday announced that it would lift its blanket ban on the word “shaheed,” which means “martyr” in English. This decision follows a year-long review by its oversight board, which concluded that the company’s approach to banning the word was “overbroad,” according to a report by Reuters. For years the company has faced criticism for its handling of content related to the Middle East. A 2021 study, which Meta itself commissioned found that its approach had a negative impact on the human rights of Palestinians and other Arabic-speaking users of its services. Meta acknowledged the findings of the review on Tuesday and said its tests showed that removing content when “shaheed” was “paired with otherwise violating content captures the most potentially harmful content without disproportionally impacting the voice”.
